The Kuruwita–Erathna trail to Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) is a challenging 12 km route, harder than the popular Hatton-Nallathanni trail. It shares similarities with the Rathnapura-Palabathgala trail, meeting it 2 km before the summit. Key sections include: 0–3.4 km (Warnagala Mountain): A steep climb through disturbed forests and tea fields. Highlights include the Warnagala Falls, rest spots at Jambolagaha-Yata and Diamondgala Ambalamas, and views of the waterfall’s rock bed. 3.4–6 km: A flat, scenic path through dense forest, shaded with views of a river valley. Notable is the Seethagangula (Icy River), a bathing spot. 6–10 km: Frequent climbs through irregular forest trails, passing Medahinna Temple and Idikatupana, with sunset views and layered landscapes. 10–12 km: The trail ascends the Haramitipana plain to the steep Mahagiridamba (Great Rock Climb). Steel-aided steps lead to the windy, cold summit. Tips: Pack rain gear, warm clothing, and leech protection. Drinkable water is available. Aim to reach the summit by sunrise for the mountain's shadow spectacle. Overnight stays are possible at Ambalamas.
