ರಾಗಿಗುಡ್ಡ ಆಂಜನೇಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ located in the 9th Block of Jayanagar, Bengaluru, is a well-known and spiritually significant Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple's name and its history are deeply rooted in a local legend. Timings: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM The name "Ragigudda" is a combination of two Kannada words: "Ragi," meaning finger millet, and "Gudda," meaning hillock. The temple is built on a small hillock, and its name comes from a unique mythological story. The legend tells of a pious and generous woman named Sudharma. One day, three sages appeared at her home asking for alms. She offered them a portion of her freshly harvested ragi grains. Her mother-in-law, disapproving of the act, demanded that Sudharma take the grains back. Sudharma refused, stating that taking back an offering would be an unholy act. Pleased by her devotion and selfless nature, the three sages revealed their true identities as the Hindu holy trinity: Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. At that moment, the heap of ragi grains miraculously transformed into the hillock on which the temple now stands. The Trimurti, in their appreciation, decided to remain there forever and manifested as three monolithic stone pillars. These pillars, engraved with their images, are still a central feature of the temple. The temple was founded in 1969 by a group of youths and was officially registered in 1972. It has since grown from a small shrine to a sprawling 5-acre complex.
