Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. Jean-Yves Duclos (public services), Anita Anand (Treasury Board president), François-Philippe Champagne (industry), Ministers Marc Miller (immigration), Pascale St-Onge (heritage), Pablo Rodriguez (transport), Steven Guilbeault (environment), Ahmed Hussen (international development) and MP John McKay face questions on federal contracts awarded to GC Strategies, an IT company flagged in the auditor general's recent report on the ArriveCAN app. The firm has reportedly been granted nearly $258 million in federal contracts since 2015. Guilbeault is also questioned on his remarks about the government's decision to stop funding new roads. Rechie Valdez (small business), MP Bryan May and McKay comment as well on the environment minister's recent statements. Champagne also discusses the government’s efforts to stabilize food prices. MPs Jaime Battiste and Salma Zahid comment on the future of eel fisheries in Nova Scotia and Israel's military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. (February 14, 2024)
