Chibuihe Obi Achimba grew up in Umuahia, Abia State , Nigeria. He is a 2019-2020 Harvard University SAR Fellow and research scholar in the Department of English. His work interrogates myth, history, queer poetics, collective memory, among other subjects. He has been featured or forthcoming in The Harvard Review, Guernica Magazine, Arrowsmith, Adirondak Review, Expound, Heart Journal, Cosmonauts, etc., and has also been nominated for both the Pushcart Prize and Best New Poet anthologies. In 2018, he was announced as a finalist for the Gerald Kraak Award. He is currently at work on his first book entitled "post-empire" and will begin his MFA Candidacy in Fall 2020 at Brown University. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chibuihe Obi Achimba spoke at the virtual Igbo symposium on Disruptions: Breaks & Ruptures, which held from 17th-19th June 2020. Over the three days, a range of speakers discussed significant moments of change for Igbo people, brought about by disruptive forces (both positive and negative). Conversations engaged with key historical events and changes in cultural practices, notions of identity, and ways of seeing the world.
