In today's video I decided to help any of you newer pickers out there or anyone with some experience but having trouble getting those spool pins picked. There are already a lot of videos out there on this topic. You never know which video that you will watch that will make the most sense to you. The whole point of this video is to expose you to the different types of feedback that you will get when attempting to pick a lock with spool pins in it and then what you need to do once you get certain feed back in order to get the lock picked. The two main types of feedback that are given to you when picking spool pins is a "false set" this is the point in picking the lock that tells you that you are know dealing with spool pins. A false set tells you that there are spool pins in the lock. Then to actually pick a spool pin you need to proceed like you normally would and find the next pin that is bound up, the only difference now is that since it is a spool pin and you start to lift the key pin up YOU WILL notice that the core is starting to counter rotate the more and more you lift that key pin higher up which is what you need to do in order to set that bound spool above the shear line. As you are getting your counter rotation you need to let the core and your tension wrench come back ever so lightly in the counter clock wise direction so that you can line the core and the shear line up so that as soon as they meet your bound spool pin will be lifted up pass the shear line and then properly set in place (picked). From here on out you repeat the steps until all the spool pins are picked and the lock opens. That is the simple way that I think is a good way to explain what is going on. I show you how you can easily practice and get use to the feed back and then you can add more pins both regular and spool and keep practicing. Hopefully this video helps anyone.
