Röhrig studied chemistry in Hamburg and Munich with a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. In 2004, she obtained a PhD degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) under the supervision of Ursula Röthlisberger. After a postdoctoral stay in Rome with Roberto Petronzio and Michele Parrinello, Ute F. Röhrig joined the Molecular Modeling Group at the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics in 2006, where she is presently working as a senior research scientist. She has also been privatdozent at the University of Lausanne since 2016. Her research interests include computational modeling and in silico drug design with experimental validation, especially using hybrid quantum and classical methods.
