For Doctors, terms may not be appropriate for patients* In this video Dr. Gabriel Chu at Fraser Valley Cataract & Laser located in Surrey British Columbia preforms a reverse pupil block during a routine cataract surgery. In this surgery the patient had approximately a -6.00D myopia with high axial length. We put a 12.5 diopter IOL with an LRI to correct the astigmatism. High myopes can have distensible anterior chambers. Often the BSS bag pressure can cause a reverse pupillary block. By reversing it by creating a space to allow fluid to equalize above and below the iris planes, we can normalize the anterior chamber depth intra-operatively to make the surgery easier for the surgeon, and also enhance patient comfort. https://www.fvcl.ca/ Fraser Valley Cataract & Laser: Our ophthalmologists offer experienced medical laser eye surgery and eye care options like: LASIK, cataracts, eyelid, or cosmetic surgery for patients across the Lower Mainland.
