This short documentary was completed in April of 2021. It is very much a stamp in time and a reference of what a community was enduring during the winter of 2021. Obviously more of the story has developed and situations have changed. But the story isn't unique and the cycle continues. Another black man abused by the hands of the police, every black activist wants to come out and lead like King but the beautiful thing is anyone can serve. It doesn’t matter the degree as long as you fight for equity Because we’re up against something we can’t see Time becomes an enemy, politics divides human morality, another mortality. All the statutes and policies but out of nowhere? A hero pulls out their phone for the whole world to see I can’t breathe. The cycle repeats. This will never happen to me! I turn around and seven shots in the back to someone who looks just like me Right down the street from where I used to compete in my community. I have to do something. I can make a Documentary. Everything is from the public eye. What would it look like from the sky? Didn’t find out about the in-fighting until late July. We’re all human, can’t we sympathize? We’re black, we can empathize. Letting the same court that denied Dredd Scott of his rights decide? Who knew they’d do the same to Jacob. But in the time it took to read this poem Attention spans were once again stolen. Time is what the doctor warned us about. From jail, he still outworked the ill will. What about you?
