Inside the Classroom: Georges Vanier School helping students learn about importance of public...

Monique Martin is a professional artist and teacher at George Vanier Catholic School within the city’s Catholic school division. With her classes at George Vanier Catholic School, she’s worked on dozens of projects that help students understand the importance of public art and the role it plays in society. She says through the creative process, students become more engaged with their environment and are also challenged to push themselves when it comes to their own creative endeavours. Work that she’s done with her students is present throughout the City of Saskatoon and her students say it’s been a rewarding experience learning about art and how people interact with it. We caught up with Monique and some of her students at Georges Vanier to find out how learning about the creative process has sharpened their skills as engaged citizens and students.
