Are light roast coffee better? This is a thought I have had recently after many years in specialty coffee. I share my experience with specialty coffee and touch on how North America loves their specialty light roasts and look into other areas in the world (Japan) that have pushed the boundaries of dark roast coffee. So yet again, are light roast coffee better?! In my opinion, they are! There is a skewed representation of light roast coffee in specialty coffee and a divide between roast-level styles regarding what people would classify as specialty coffee.
