Even at 19, Juvenal Torres was still his mother Yolanda Gallegos' baby; her pride and joy on and off the Brownsville football field. "Even now that I saw him, I can't believe it," she said among sobs. Gallegos still cannot believe her son is gone, especially when he had his entire life ahead of him. The Rivera High School senior was killed Saturday in a car accident in Matamoros. Gallegos said that night Juvenal was supposed to be sleeping over at a friends house in Brownsville. "I don't know what went though my son's mind, if he thought it would be no big deal," she said. Juvenal crossed the border into Matamoros with his teenage neighbor. Matamoros Police told Action 4 News the teen driver Juvenal was with was speeding when he lost control and crashed into a concrete post, five blocks south of the B&M International Bridge. Gallegos had some words for the parents of the teenage driving. "Because of your son's bad decision, I have lost half of my heart," she sobbed. Broken-hearted, Gallegos struggles to make sense of her son's death. The family has set up a viewing for Juvenal on Tuesday from 1 to 9 p.m. It will take place at the Sunset Funeral Home, located on Highway 100, east of FM 803 in Los Fresnos. Relatives have set up an account to help Juvenal's family with funeral expenses. Anyone who would like to help out can stop by Wells Fargo Bank and donate to the account under his sister Emma Yanez. They can also call her directly at (956) 312-8986.
