« ZINTKALA » (K.S. / Djazia Satour) Chanson inédite captée à l'initiative de Tartine Production. She was called Zintkala Nuni, which means “Lost bird” in the Lakota Sioux language, and she has remained in the history under this name. As she was 4 months old, she survived in the snow, where she was found, clinging to her dead mother, who was part of 400 Lakota victims of the Wounded Knee massacre in Southern Dakota, perpetrated by the 7th cavalry regiment of the U.S. army on December 29th, 1890. Their only wrong was to have defied the U.S. rule by expressing remnants of their hopes in the Ghost Dance. Zintkala was adopted by force by a U.S. general, and her whole life was nothing but vagrancy, pain, and abandonment. All the hardship she had to endure made her die at a young age. Hundred years after the massacre, in 1991, she was finally buried in Wounded Knee, together with her people, those she never should have left. This song is about this wrench and this reunion, it is dedicated to Zintkala Nuni and to all Native Americans, who have been victims of the Western civilization’s brutality. Zintkala (Lost Bird) * 1. In your snow, Wounded Knee, They killed my people and brought me back to life When they brought me back to life, They called me Zintkala From your snow, Wounded Knee, I rose as a lonely bird Trapped in my enemies’ cage Zintkala, hoo, Zintkala So, they brought me back to life, Hoo, hoo Zintkala Then they killed me Living dead… Living dead Then they killed me Zintkala Zintkala Living dead… Living dead Zintkala Zintkala 2. To your ground, Wounded Knee I was returned after a long absence My people welcomed me Zintkala To you, I returned, Wounded Knee, Where the ghosts were longing for me Where their dance brings me back to life Zintkala, hoo, Zintkala The Ghost Dance Hoo, hoo, Zintkala The Ghost Dance Forever alive… Forever The Ghost Dance Zintkala, Zintkala Forever alive… Forever Zintkala Zintkala Zintkala ***** Crédits : Djazia Satour : Chant / Bendir Rémi D’Aversa : Percussion / Choeurs Benoits Richou : Guitare / Choeurs Quentin Andréoulis : Banjo Production : Tartine Production Captation et réalisation : Pure Capture En partenariat avec Radio Nova et Music in Africa.
