EXPANDED WEAPONS DISCUSSION First note that light infantry front ranks used light firearms as this: • 【中國軍事史】CHINESE MILITARY HISTORY 三眼銃 POLE M... (THE POLE CANNON WAS BASICALLY INFANTRY WEAPON CARRIED BY INFANTRY ANCIENT "SALW" SMALL ARMS LIGHT WEAPONS which is a direct contrast to GREAT GENERAL CANNON which is NOT repeat NOT a small armament to be carried by Ming Front Rank soldat. I argue ancient Chinese Rockets were sort of a shock and awe weapon with limited effected due to accuracy issues whereas SEIGE weapons, including MORTAR (which I have slides of dating to ancient China) would enable a commander to pummel and smash the wall of your enemy from a "Safer Distance" (convenient way to wage war) with guns and cannon protected by the skirmish line and front ranks of infantry which would have been Armed With Pole Cannons As SAN YAN CHONG alongside European Muskets (towards the latter era of the Ming). The earliest Chinese firearms were ancient “fire lances” essentially tube like devices, dating to the 8th century, before you see the above taking shape. There was also grenades and land mines and bombs and also rockets mostly inaccurate rockets that would frighten and shock with a screech and explosion and served to daze frighten and shock the enemy. While deadly and lethal, the rockets were largely inaccurate and the cannon was more decisive. Ancient artillery included SIEGE MORTARS that slowly Destroyed Enemy walls from a DISTANCE. Siege mortar enabled ancient army to watch the enemy walls crumble before their eyes from a distance and thus artillery held greater battlefield utility over ancient Chinese rockets which, while lethal, were less accurate and thus was likely used as a weapon more for the psychological shock effect it would have surely had of dazing confusing and shocking opposing forces whom have never seen rockets before on the battlefield as opposed to the likely greater utility of cannon and artillery. 【中國軍事史】WHAT DID CHINA ACTUALLY INVENT?
