Celibacy is God's plan for singles until they become married, but abstaining can be VERY difficult. 1) AVOID UNNECESSARY STIMULI Try not to watch movies or listen to music or view any media that is overtly sexual, things can plant into your head in seed form and make arousal more frequent. 2. DON'T TOUCH YOURSELF/OTHERS SHORT OF SEX Be honest with yourself. Even thinking about someone sexually is adultery. So although certain activities fall short of intercourse, they can still be wrong if the heart posture is off. 3. BE IN AGREEMENT WITH YOUR PARTNER You and your partner must agree on the goal of celibacy until marriage if you desire the relationship to be Godly. Likewise, if you are single and seeking a relationship it is imperative to choose individuals with a goal of celibacy on their own. 4. KNOW YOUR LIMITS Be wise when dealing with the opposite sex or triggers that make you want to masturbate. 5. BE HONEST WITH GOD You cannot escape from God, He knows when you are horny and you're sexuality does not offend Him. Its in your best bet to be honest with Him and pray for help to appropriately deal with these feelings. 6. PRAY ABOUT THE PATH TO MARRIAGE God give us the remedy for sexual desire which is godly marriage. Thats not to say get married just to have sex! but pray for the path to Godly marriage if you find yourself truly struggling with celibacy. 7. MISTAKES HAPPEN! IF YOU FALL, GET BACK UP. It's easy to think that if you are 1 year or 5 years in and there is a slip up then those years are wasted. Thats not true! it's about having a heart postured toward God, not the amount of time you've abstained. 8. SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD ABOVE ALL ELSE. Any circumstance is easier when you focus on God.
