Episode 3: Three weeks. Three Episodes. I'm keeping the promise to myself to update this every week, one hour at a time. This week on the vintage les paul project I take the 1980s Argus Les Paul custom to a place I've never personally been; removing the fretboard. Spoiler alert: somethings went really well. Others, not so much. First step was fret removal. If you're wondering how to remove guitar frets, you can watch the time lapse of the first step of refret. Pretty simple. I managed to remove the frets without any chip out. The binding snapped badly. So if you're wondering how to remove the binding from a vintage les paul fret board that's in here too. Fretboard binding removal is pretty easy when it's in the state that this was... brittle. Snappy. Bad. Goodbye. Lastly... how to remove a guitar fretboard. I still can't answer that question.
