Davis Stabbings Trial: Day 1 of witness statements Davis Stabbings: Opening statements from defense, prosecution in Carlos Dominguez trial on May 5, 2025 Monday morning marked the start of the trial for Carlos Dominguez, a Davis man accused of stabbing three people in 2023, killing two. Dominguez, who appeared in Yolo County Superior Court, is facing two murder charges and one charge of attempted murder. The trial comes two years after the stabbings began in the college community of Davis. The victims include 50-year-old David Breaux, who was known as the ‘Compassion Guy." He was sleeping on a bench in Central Park when he was killed on April 27, 2023. The second victim was 20-year-old Karim Abou Najm, a UC Davis student, who was walking in Sycamore Park when he was stabbed to death on April 29.
