Is the Panasonic Lumix Micro Four Thirds G95 the perfect B-cam? Or could it be a jack-of-all-trades A-cam? In this absolutely independent review I'll go through my experiences shooting (mainly video) with the camera, rather than regurgitate a spec-sheet. Unlike other reviews, this was done over a period of a month, rather than one day designated day that the manufacturer lent the reviewer to use the camera for. I start off with the problem of flickering with time lapses: Using the kit lens (in some territories the lens is not available as a kit) the Panasonic 12-60mm f3.5-5.6, the aperture opens and closes between shots, regardless if the exposure preview function is set on or off. As each time the expose does not reach the exact same position it produces flickering which requires computer-intensive de-flickering via, in my case, Da Vinci Resolve Studio (not the free one). If anyone knows a remedy, apart from the lens-twist method, or using a manual lens, please tell me. I then mention the G95's noise in 4K, the IBIS, and actually let the footage speak for itself, even the parts where I do speak, it was filmed on the G95. In conclusion I reckon the G95 is not a crucial upgrade to the G85, but a very welcome camera due to its lack of a record limit. It sits very comfortably next to my Sony a6500 and I hope to use it not only as a B-cam but as a one-camera solution for the future.
