To ensure the train arrive on time, two SP MK-5 were assigned to pull and push the train on the Sierra Nevada mountains, on War Department's request. Everything went according to plan until an intense storm suddenly hit the area. The train would have stuck in the center of the storm if it couldn't escape the mountain area immediately.
