Dr Dan Brubaker has uploaded an excellent 33-minute response to Yasir Qadhi’s ‘Meltdown’ against him on Thanksgiving Day (November 26), but he didn’t refer to a number of items which Jay wanted to point out in this video. See Dr Brubaker's video here: • Daniel Brubaker answers Yasir Qadhi When Dr Qadhi suggested that Dr Brubaker was “agenda-driven” and that he (Dr Qadhi) “couldn’t respect a person who uses the academy to pursue an agenda of conversion and proselytization”, he seemed to be attacking the very thing he does himself in his lectures on his YouTube site. For instance, on October of last year he gave a 2.5 hour lecture on ‘Dawah’ (Islamic evangelism), and then this year on July 9 he gave another hour 20 minutes lecture on ‘Questions on the methodology of Dawah’; suggesting that the very thing he was accusing Daniel of was what he practiced regularly. What’s more, where has Dan ever introduced proselytization or conversion in his very academic book entitled ‘Corrections in Early Qur’an Manuscripts’ or in any of his videos which he has uploaded on his ‘Variant Quran’ site? Once again Qadhi, it seems, is accusing Dan of the very things he does himself. He then attacks Dan for “spoon-feeding well-known Islamophobes”, which he means people like Jay and David, which are titles that have been weaponized against them for years now. Yet, both Jay and David are not ‘spoon-fed’ by anyone, and least of all not by Dan, since they are reading the same book everyone else is reading and watching the same videos. In fact, Jay and Al-Fadi did a whole series of episodes on Dan’s book concerning the Corrections within the Qur’an, but all of what they talked about were their own opinions, having read the book, something Dr Qadhi seemed not to have done himself. Dr Qadhi's aversion to any Western institution which dares to teach Islam (i.e. like Rice University, where Dan received his PhD) is another area Jay wants to talk about, but will reserve for another subsequent video on the subject. Yet, this seems to be a contradiction in terms, since to suggest that no one can study Islam except at recognized Islamic institutions, would fly in the face of his own degree on the Qur'an, which he received at Yale, a renowned Western Institution. Would he suggest that his degree is therefore now invalid? Finally, when one looks at the vitriolic tone of Qadhi's diatribes against Dan, as well as the false accusations he levels at him, and compares it with the Dan's friendly and reasoned response, it leaves no doubt in our mind as to who has the moral high-ground in this discussion, and who seems to constantly revert to to the use of ad-hominem whenever he has lost the plot or lost the argument. Dan's response is a class act, and the correct way to rebut anyone who doesn't like what you do or what you say, something Dr Qadhi could well learn and model himself. © Pfander Centre for Apologetics - US, 2020 (43,490) “inspiring”, by Rafael Krux (from-filmmusic-io - License CC BY)
