Conversations with Olmsted: Nature, Mental Health and the Campus Experience

Can campus design and connections to nature make students happier and result in a better educational experience? Frederick Law Olmsted thought so, and more and more modern campus leaders agree!  On May 21, 2024 we held a discussion on how universities are connecting students to nature and using campus design to enhance mental and physical well-being. We heard from leaders at Troy University, William & Mary, Stanford and Georgia Tech— all Olmsted landscapes or landscapes inspired by Olmsted. The presentation begins at around the 6:00 mark. Hosted by the Olmsted Network, these programs examine different aspects of Olmsted’s far-reaching influence on America’s physical landscape and social fabric.
