VENICE, CA — Friday, August 1, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation was conducted Friday morning at Venice Beach, targeting the boardwalk, Muscle Beach, the historic Venice Beach pagoda, and surrounding areas. The effort focused on the removal of homeless encampments and restoration of public access and safety in one of Los Angeles’ most iconic coastal spaces. The operation was carried out by crews from the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, LA County Beaches and Harbors, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, the Los Angeles Park Rangers, and the Los Angeles Police Department. Workers removed debris and enforced camping restrictions under Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 63.44(b), which prohibits unauthorized lodging in city parks and beach areas. During the operation, officers contacted a man who had been camping along the boardwalk and asked him to vacate the area so crews could conduct sanitation efforts. Advance notices had been posted prior to the sweep. Items left behind were collected and discarded by sanitation teams in accordance with city protocol. No arrests or citations were reported. The Park Rangers led the response, with LAPD officers on-site to provide security and ensure a peaceful operation. Outreach workers from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were also present, distributing food, water, clothing, and hygiene kits to individuals affected by the cleanup. Two representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office were on site to observe the operation and assist with coordination, in line with the city’s strategy of pairing enforcement with service-based outreach. City officials reiterated that the cleanup was part of a broader municipal initiative to restore and maintain public facilities while connecting unhoused residents with housing programs and long-term care options. Santa Monica Closeup continues to document the evolving intersection of enforcement, outreach, and public policy across Los Angeles’ Westside. #VeniceBeach #BoardwalkSweep #MuscleBeach #HomelessOutreach #PublicSafety — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲.
