We took a road trip to Hermann, Missouri, a charming German-themed Midwest town known for its wineries, distilleries, historic architecture, and Missouri River views. Founded in 1837 by German immigrants, Hermann was created to preserve German culture and heritage—and today it’s one of the best weekend getaways in Missouri. Located about 1.5 hours from St. Louis and 3 hours from Kansas City, Hermann is easy to reach by car or Amtrak, which stops right in town. We spent 3 days exploring Hermann, and were impressed by how clean, safe, friendly, and walkable the town is. During our visit, we sampled some of the best wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and coffee shops in Hermann, MO, and stayed at the Wharf Street Riverfront Inn, which offers spacious rooms and beautiful Missouri River views. It was comfortable, spotless, and a stay we’d absolutely recommend. And yes—Lindsay delivers her signature in-suite hairdryer review 😄 Trip Highlights in Hermann, Missouri: 🍺 Hermann Wurst Haus – Award-winning sausages, mustards, and local sauces 🍷 German beer & Missouri wine around nearly every corner 🥃 Lionheart Whiskey Company – Craft whiskey cocktails by Brandy 🍕 4th Street Pizza – Excellent pizza in the heart of town 🎶 The Piano Bar – Classic sing-along fun 🍇 Stone Hill Winery – Grape stomping and authentic German food at the Vintage 1847 Restaurant 🎵 Hermann 1837 Cellar Bar – Drinks and live music outdoors 🥞 Ainsley’s Place – A great brunch spot 🥃 Copper Mule Distillery – Amazing valley views and spirits ☕ Espresso Laine – Iced coffee and an outstanding scone We didn’t ride the Hermann Trolley this time, but it’s a great option if you’re planning winery visits outside the main downtown area. We did use a local ride-share service, Lyft You Up Rides, and Debbie was an excellent driver—highly recommended if you need a safe and easy way to get around town. We’d love to return to Hermann during Maifest or Oktoberfest 🍻 👉 Have you been to Hermann, Missouri during festival season?
