If you are passionate about nature, it's a must-see, when you visit Slovenia. During the winter, the summer, during rainy days, heavy snow, whatever the conditions, you'll be amazed by nature and you'll find something to do around. I visited the lake after very heavy floods, therefore you'll spot quite many fallen trees along the trail. 📍https://maps.app.goo.gl/xtkj3fqUCxuC2... ✨ WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS WALK? Shades of green of the Sava Bohinjka River at Ukanc is an amazing starting point. The whole trail takes you around the lake mirroring the surrounding forest and mountains. Amazing! ➡️ Length: Approx. 11 km (6,8 miles) or 2,5 hours ➡️ My Grade: 👣 Easy Walk 🐾 Dog Approved. ➡️ My COMPANIONS: 🎙️ All trails. 🎙️ Suunto 🎙️ GoPro ✨ 5 THINGS TO DO AROUND.. 💛 "Have a snack at the bank of Sava Bohinjka river and experience the cold water with bare feet" Besides the obvious swim in the Bohinj lake (reaching max. 20 degrees Celsius in summer time) the river water temperature was more challenging to me. Whichever challenge you take, you will feel amazing and refreshed. 💛 "Stand-up Paddling on the lake might also be your thing" Fantastic experience for SUP enthusiasts. The alternative would be to take an organized panoramic tour by boat. 💛 "Try the local cheese /Bohinjski sir/ best served with homemade bread, walnuts, and sausage on a wooden platter" Alpine dairy farming is a very important part of local tradition. That is why while wandering around, sooner or later you'll get acquainted with local cows :) 💛 "Admire the lake from the mountain Vogel" Take the cabin cable car to Vogel (ski resort at 1540m altitude). You'll be rewarded with an exclusive view of the whole lake from above. Simply breathtaking. 🗺️ INTERESTING FACT ABOUT LAKE BOHINJ In the heart of Slovenia's majestic Julian Alps, a legend whispers through the pines. Meet Zlatorog, the mystical golden-horned goat of Bohinj, guardian of a secret treasure hidden deep within the mountains. But when greed overcomes a local hunter, Zlatorog's tranquil world is turned upside down, unleashing a tale of magic and nature's wrath... The hunter found Zlatorog! And guess what? He shoots him. However, wounded Zlatorog ate magical Triglav flowers and, just like that, he's healed! And when Zlatorog got up, he wasn't happy. He ran through the mountains, his hooves striking the ground so hard that they reshaped the landscape. That's how the legend explains the creation of the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley. Amazing, right? Now, the hunter realizes he's made a huge mistake. But it was too late for him. He couldn't escape Zlatorog's rampage. .. The moral?
