This video shows Appendicular mass with enlarged Rt. mesenteric lymph nodes. Appendicitis usually involves a gradual onset of dull, cramping, or aching pain throughout the abdomen. This causes localized, sharp pain in the right lower part of the abdomen. The pain tends to be more constant and severe than the dull, aching pain that occurs when symptoms start. The presence of enlarged lymph nodes in the mesentery of the right lower quadrant with a normal-appearing appendix may reflect mesenteric adenitis in the correct clinical setting. Mesenteric lymphadenopathy may also be seen in cases of chronic appendicitis and diverticulitis. An appendiceal mass is an inflammatory tumor consisting of the inflamed appendix, its adjacent viscera, and the greater omentum, whereas an abscess is a pus-containing appendiceal mass. Acute appendicitis is inflammation of the vermiform appendix and remains the most common cause of the acute abdomen in young adults. A phlegmon is an inflammatory tumor consisting of the inflamed appendix, its adjacent viscera, and the greater omentum, whereas an abscess is a pus-containing appendiceal mass. Phlegmon is a medical term describing an inflammation of soft tissue that spreads under the skin or inside the body. It's usually caused by an infection and produces pus. Mesenteric lymphadenitis is an inflammation of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes are among the hundreds that help your body fight disease. They trap and destroy microscopic "invaders" like viruses or bacteria. Mesenteric lymphadenitis often causes abdominal pain. It is most common in children and teens. If the lymph glands of the mesentery react to an infection in the abdomen or the intestine, they will swell and become painful, causing abdominal discomfort. Mesenteric adenitis usually results from a viral or bacterial infection. Paraaortic lymph node (PAN) metastasis is considered an important prognostic factor in several abdominal and pelvic malignancies, such as stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, and cervical cancer.
