My First Sleeper Train Experience: Sapa to Hanoi with Vic Sapa Train

My journey started with a pickup from my hotel in Sapa at 5:30 PM, and we arrived at Lao Cai Station around 6:30 PM. I opted to stay at the station to rest after a full day at Fansipan, though there are tours offered outside if you have the energy to explore. The train from Sapa to Hanoi departed at 9:30 PM, and I was assigned the top bunk. As a plus-size traveler, I was a little worried since the chain was the only thing holding me up, but it was manageable and I was able to climb up without any issues. The train ride was quiet and comfortable, and I was able to get a good night’s sleep. We arrived in Hanoi around 5 AM, and I took a taxi to my hotel for VND 250,000 (roughly PHP 550 or USD 10.50). Overall, it was a delightful experience, and while the bus is an easier option between Sapa to Hanoi, I definitely enjoyed the sleeper train more for the comfort and the experience. If you're planning to travel from Sapa to Hanoi, I highly recommend Vic Sapa Train for their seamless service, but you have the option to explore other companies if you prefer.
