A visit to Upper Canada Village, a living museum in Morrisburg, Ontario in July 2013. This was made for an archaeology assignment for Coursera. I hope you enjoy it :) I do apologize for the misspelling of Crysler Hall and Crysler Store in the video. There should be no 'h' in the word. As well, the credit page is missing from the end so it stops rather abruptly. At the end of this description are the credits that should appear in the video. Upper Canada Village came about as a way to preserve the history and some of the very buildings of ten communities in Upper Canada after the St. Lawrence Seaway project was deemed necessary. This project required the flooding of what has become known as the 'Lost Villages' and so, many buildings were moved between two locations - Morrisburg and to Ault Park in a living museum. With over 40 buildings to wander through, smell, hear and feel, the 19th-century village will come alive in your imagination. There are staff everywhere who will pleasantly explain who they are, where they live and what they do to supply you with even more information to fill your 'life-back-then' fantasies. A lot of them are in the rescued buildings, which have seen minor to major renovations in 1957 to make them safe and secure and kept as authentic to the period as possible. Other buildings house working enterprises supplying both the Village Store with bread and cheese and oft times will supply local businesses as well. On site is a memorial to the Battle of Crysler's Farm, a battle that took place nearby during the war of 1812.
