We take a look at PilotEdge for VFR flying in Southern California. We'll see two freeware airports: Ramona and Borrego Valley by Vincent Bazillio. We will also see the FS Birds addon in action over these airports. Wow, where to begin with this one. Well it all started when I bought my Honeycomb Alpha yoke and Bravo throttle quadrant. With it came some partner offers and I saw an advertisement for PilotEdge. I haven't tried Vatsim but I heard coverage isn't always guaranteed and flying VFR with GA planes sometimes might be a nuisance to some on it. With that in mind, I kind of steered clear of it. I've always wanted to learn more with the air traffic comms and regulations around airspaces specifically to Southern California if ever I decided I wanted to be a pilot. Seeing that PilotEdge kind started with Southern California coverage (they've since expanded into the Western half of the United States), it seemed like a good thing to try. I very quickly consumed the 5 hour free trial and decided to get a subscription to the Southern California area so we'll see how that goes. This video specifically is my first time going to and from a towered airport. I want to fly over San Diego more but I really would like a good VFR sectional chart to be able to use within the sim. I don't have a ForeFlight subscription so I'm waiting on Navigraph to complete their VFR implementation which I've heard is in beta testing at the moment. In the near future I'm just going to build more confidence and practice on the radios probably sticking to Ramona with the hopes that the familiarity will help build some muscle memory. Anyways I hope you enjoy, please keep in mind I'm not a pilot so if you see some wrong things please point them out so I can learn from them..I appreciate it! Cheers!
