Welcome to the Natural Beauty Adventure! This video takes you on an insightful tour of the Waipu Green Energy Ecological Park, organized by the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and China Productivity Center (CPC) for international students studying in Taiwan. The tour brought together students from various countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar, all studying at different universities such as CMU, NHCU, CTUST, and Tunghai University. Our journey began at HSR Taichung Station, where we gathered, signed in, and received our event passes. From there, a shuttle bus took us to Waipu Green Energy Ecological Park. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Chung Wei Yang, a specialist from the Department of Comprehensive Planning, Parker Fan from Handshanline Green Energy Co., Ltd., and Hsieh Jen Chieh, an environmental educator. They provided an engaging introduction to the park, recounting its transformation from a location with odor issues that faced local protests, to a place notable for shooting a horror movie. Today, it stands as a model for sustainable energy, converting food waste into electricity and fertilizer. The experts detailed each step of the process, from the collection of food waste to its conversion into energy. After the informative lecture, we had the opportunity to ask questions, which were answered in great detail and with satisfaction. We were then equipped with protective helmets and embarked on a factory tour. Our first stop was the food waste collection area, the initial stage of the process. Though there was a slight odor, we learned about the odor-suppressing sprays used to manage it. We also observed a grinding machine at work, with a backup machine available in case of malfunction. The tour continued as we were shown the pipeline system, which transports the waste to large containers where further processing occurs. Different by-products, such as methane gas and fertilizer, are produced in this stage. A highlight of the tour was the introduction to a massive generator, valued at 10 million NT dollars, that plays a crucial role in the energy production process. Finally, we visited the fertilizer distribution area, where containers are prepared to transport the fertilizer to local farmers. After this thorough and enlightening tour, we returned to the lecture room for a group photo. In conclusion, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the China Productivity Center (CPC) for organizing this incredible experience, and a special thanks to Ballet Tee and Hannah Chen, whose support throughout the day made the tour seamless and enjoyable.
