"Say It Loud: A Black Terpspective" uncovers the past and present events that defined Black experiences at the University of Maryland. Highlighting #BlackTerps that blazed the trail for critical Black voices, such as the Black Student Union and #BlackTerpsMatter, the panelists will provide stories of triumph and struggle through the decades. Panelists: George "Brak" Braxton '87 | Former NPHC President and Black Coalition Spokesman Bobby McLeod | First BSU President Saba Tshibaka '21 | Co-Founder of Black Terps Matter Sandra Dawson Long Weaver '74 | Second Editor of The Black Explosion, founding member of the National Association of Black Journalists Walt Williams '92 | Former UMD All-American basketball player and NBA veteran Dr. Kim Nickerson | Assistant Dean for Diversity, Diversity Officer and Equity Administrator (Moderator) Saba Tshibaka: Entrepreneur, Critic, Author, Scholar & Business Mentor. Passionate advocate for education and the socio-economic empowerment of women and girls across the globe. Saba is a student leader involved in many groups and activities promoting diversity and inclusion. She spent three years in various clubs’ executive boards, two years as a tutor with the Academic Achievement Program, and a year as a manager at the College Park Black-owned business, Milk & Honey.
