It looked like soft snow... until I tried to turn. ⛸️ We returned to Alpental on February 8, 2026, hoping for better conditions than last week. At first glance, the cover looked decent! But we quickly realized that the "snow" was actually a solid sheet of ice, formed by freezing rain the day before. The usually friendly blue run, Debbie’s Gold, was transformed into a narrow, high-consequence skating rink. Our first lap was terrifying—we had zero grip and felt totally out of control. In this video: The Ice Trap: Seeing how deceptive the conditions were (white ice vs. snow). The Fix: We immediately headed to the repair shop to get our edges sharpened. The Result: What a difference sharp edges make! Watch the second run where I finally gain speed and control on the exact same icy bowls. If you are skiing the PNW right now, check your edges! It makes the difference between survival mode and actually having fun. Gear & Location: 📍 Alpental (Snoqualmie Pass, WA) ⛷️ Run: Debbie's Gold 🛠️ Tech Tip: Keep those edges sharp!
