One of the most infamous spots on the mountain is a cave located at 8,500 meters, known as Green Boots Cave. Inside, the body of a climber can be found, wearing a pair of green boots, hence the name. The identity of Green Boots was a mystery for many years. But it is now believed that the body belongs to an Indian climber named Tsewang Paljor, who died on Everest in 1996. Paljor was an experienced climber, having made several successful ascents of other peaks in the Himalayas.
