In this presentation the design process of a driving scenario from scratch with AVL Scenario Designer™ is shown. Scenario Designer is OpenSCENARIO and OpenDRIVE compliant, which are ASAM (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems) standards for describing scenarios in XML format files. The presented example reflects a test which objective is to quantify the safety of cars, through the regulations established by the NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) tests. Specifically, it is a Car to Pedestrian Nearside Child Obstruction (CPNCO-50) test: consisting of an evaluation of the safety of an Automatic Emergency Braking assistance system (AEB), which, if not applied, results in a collision at a width of 50% of the vehicle between the tested car and the pedestrian coming out of an area without visibility. This video shows: the generation of the scenario based on the NCAP test inputs, a parametrization process for generating n-cases for the replication of multiple scenarios, and the export process and replay on a simulation environment like esmini.
