RFA Argus is expected to call at Gibraltar on Monday on its way to Sierra Leone where it will join the fight against Ebola. The Royal Navy's fifty seven foot floating hospital began its ten day journey from Cornwall to West Africa on Friday. It will stop on the Rock to collect thirty specifically prepared Toyota vehicles which have been supplied by Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings Ltd. The RFA has embarked on a six month mission to fight Ebola in Africa. It carries medecine, food, thousands of bottles of water and other life saving supplies. The 380 strong crew, include 80 medics and 80 Royal Marines to provide security while care is administered. It also carries a fleet of Merlin helicopters to ferry people and supplies. The state of the art casualty unit boasts one hundred beds but Ebola patients will not be taken on board because of the risk of transmission. Strict protocol procedures have been imposed.
