Part 3 : Suðuroy Island

Suðuroy is the southernmost of the Faroe Islands and is indeed a remote island in every sense. It remains one of the less-visited islands in the archipelago. Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, is the only place from which you can reach Suðuroy. The ferry Smyril sails from Tórshavn to Tvøroyri two to three times a day, taking about two hours. The ferry is large and well-maintained, capable of carrying 200 cars, and does not require booking; you only need to queue 15 to 30 minutes in advance. Onboard, there is a nice cafeteria that offers good meals at reasonable prices, making the food experience quite enjoyable. We took the first ferry in the morning and returned on the evening ferry, which meant we missed out on several interesting places. I suggest staying overnight in Suðuroy to fully explore all the highlights, including the most famous villages: Sandvik, Famjin, and Sumba. The ferry ride is always an enjoyable experience. We recorded another wonderful trip to Suðuroy Island on a sunny day. Although we missed a few interesting sites, this gives us an excuse to return.
