Sheet music here: https://musescore.com/user/1876241/sc... Hej Sokoły or "Hey Falcons'' is a popular drinking and wedding song in Poland, Ukraine and other former parts of the Polish-Lithunanian Commonwealth (Western Belarus, Slovakia and Eastern Czechia). Only Ukraine is mentioned in the song yet it remains extremely popular in Poland symbolizing the relationship between the two countries. Polish statesman Józef Piłsudski once argued that “There can be no independent Poland without an independent Ukraine”. Piłsudski advocated for a state “Międzymorze” or “Intermarium” meaning between the seas as it would stretch from the Baltics to the Black Sea. Intermarium was intended as a hypothetical successor to the Commonwealth and a way to protect the sovereignty of those states from the influence of both Germany and Russia/Soviets. Hej Sokoɫy embodies the friendship among the hypothetical lands of Intermarium and remains a lasting impression of the once great Polish state.
