In this episode of Open House NYC, host Sara Gore leads us through five beautiful private properties where architecture, interior design, and personal expression intersect. From a historic firehouse in Manhattan to a glamorous retreat in Miami, each property reveals a distinct narrative informed by light, texture, and bold vision. 📍 78 Morton Street, West Village, Manhattan We begin in this 1860s firehouse converted into a five‑story townhouse of nearly 7,000 square feet, where Cheryl Eisen of Interior Marketing Group marries grit and grandeur. A 25‑foot‑wide living room unfolds beneath double‑height ceilings, original wood beams, exposed brick, and arched windows framing one of the West Village’s boldest fireplaces. To balance that scale, Cheryl introduced a custom piece of art and a double‑height mirror installation. Dining is formal yet inviting with a natural wood table, vintage iron chairs, and tactile surfaces. The kitchen reads like an installation: kaleidoscopic cabinets, fuzzy seating, and a backlit banquet, all flowing into a private garden beneath a pergola and skylight. Descending into the lower levels, you’ll find a lounge anchored by mirrored walls and curved furniture, and a steel‑beamed bar that seems to hover. The basement houses a speakeasy with red velvet drapes, fringe chairs, a stage, and a spiral staircase that recalls the building’s past. Above, the primary suite is theatrical: 3D wall art, lacquered nightstands, a floral chandelier, a catwalk, and a Mongolian banister—features that animate its rock‑star persona while retaining sophistication. 📍 West Chelsea Pied‑à‑Terre, NYC Interior designer Garrow Kedigian brings his sophisticated and audacious sense of design to a one‑bedroom near the High Line. From the foyer with high gloss surfaces and a luminous light fixture to living spaces defined by mirrored walls opposite window walls, saturated ceilings, and layered textures, color and pattern become instruments of delight. Furniture is custom scaled, whereas fabrics are floral, metallic, velvet. A dining nook with a starburst chandelier and yellow velvet chairs invites visual interest while the bedroom creates a calming environment with muted tones, soft carpets and carefully chosen accents such as red lampshades and mirrored bedside tables. This apartment is design bravura in compact form. 📍 Serenity, Beverly Hills, California Ramtin Ray Nosrati introduces this four‑level, 13000 sq ft hillside estate (located at 1414 Donhill Drive in Los Angeles) that is set on 1.2 acres, where city‑to‑ocean vistas open through custom woodwork, oak beams, thoughtful structure, and furniture created specifically for this luxurious residence. The home’s heart is an open plan living, dining, and kitchen ensemble that bridges interior comfort with exterior calm, while a gorgeous wine lounge that overlooks a pond ushers in a sense of indoor/outdoor flow. The lower level reveals theatrics: a spa, movie theater, and a bar sculpted in viola marble. The primary suite features secret doors, sweeping views, and top-tier architectural paneling. At the pinnacle of the home, prime rooftop entertaining unfolds: fire pit, bar, pool, basketball court, putting green, and vistas that will surely take your breath away. 📍 SoHo Loft, Cast Iron District, New York City Designers Andrea Fisk and Jess Hinshaw of Shapeless Studio restore an 1886 loft into a space where industrial bones meet softer layers. Walls remain exposed brick, beams and wood lentils stay exposed, and floors are painted in marine‑grade white to bounce light. Warm gray walls, linen and wool furnishings, and custom white oak cabinetry form a quiet counterpart to large windows and original structure. A major renovation replaced two disjointed lofts with a single sculptural stair‑accessed loft above the kitchen. A marble kitchen integrates with millwork and neutral cabinetry. Meanwhile, the bedroom is darker in tone but spatially generous with glass doors, layered lighting and full‑height wardrobes that echo the character of the building. 📍A sunlit retreat in Miami, Florida Singer Natti Natasha welcomes us into her private haven, shaped by love, creativity, and memory. The entryway sparkles with scale and reflection: a glittering chair becomes focal, mirrored surfaces and sparkle evoke the water light outside. Her main room balances glam white leather seating, vegan leather patchwork rug, warmth in textiles, and personal symbolism (e.g. elephants for abundance). A dramatic liquor wall anchors the transition from formal to casual. The primary suite blends natural materials and luxurious softness: platform bed, matching furniture, a plush leather sofa, and closet space that holds personal and performance pieces. Outdoors, the home opens to poolside grilling and lounging and allows for nature and design to exist in harmony. Which house spoke to you the most? Tell us in a comment below.
