Patiala Railway Station Update | Patiala Train Station | Patiala Railway Station Redevelopment The redevelopment of Patiala Railway Station is being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a nationwide initiative launched by the Ministry of Railways to modernize over 1,300 railway stations across India. As part of this scheme, Patiala station is set to receive significant upgrades with a budget allocation of ₹47.5 crore. The planned enhancements include: Widening of the foot overbridge Improved roads and traffic circulation systems Modernized toilets and upgraded furniture Enhanced ticket counters Installation of escalators and lifts Development of a food court and waiting areas Provision of separate parcel services and rest houses Improved façade reflecting local historical architecture The foundation stone for this redevelopment was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing on August 6, 2023. The project aims to be completed by December 2025, enhancing passenger amenities and integrating the station more effectively with the city's infrastructure. Patiala railway station (station code: PTA) is a railway station serving Patiala city of Punjab in India. It is under Ambala railway division of Northern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is located at 256 m (840 ft) above sea level and has four platforms. 24 trains stops, one train originates and one train terminates here. The Patiala railway station is located at an elevation of 255 metres (837 ft) and was assigned the code "PTA." Patiala railway station is one of the 400 stations to be redeveloped under Government of India's AMRUT scheme. In 2016, the work for the platform-1 extension is in progress which shall be extended to another 200 meter to accommodate longest possible train.[3] In 2016, electrification of Single broad-gauge railway line was under progress which is executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. There are 5 platforms under use, 1(A), 1, 2, 3, 4. Platform number 4 is reserved exclusively for freight.
