Around March 2023, I was recommended a YouTube video that absolutely blew my mind. It was the single most New York thing that I ever witnessed. Hundreds of skateboarders and longboarders tearing up the streets of Manhattan. Running all of the red lights and swerving to avoid pedestrians and traffic. It was like hundreds of people charging into battle. I think the coolest part was that even amidst the sheer chaos, all of these longboarders were smiling cheek to cheek and they looked like they were having so much fun. This video fired me up and from that moment, I knew that I HAD to do this.
