Exploring the Hidden Dunes at Ludington Beach by Fat Bike!

Day 4: Lighthouse Loops & the Final Ferry - (Monday, July 14) We fat biked north toward the Big Sable Point Lighthouse via the park’s maintenance road, then south along the beach. Ideal terrain, legs full of sand-fatigue. After breaking camp, we fat biked into town for lunch at Sportsman’s Restaurant — home of decent burgers and surprisingly good cheesy broccoli soup. Turns out they support the 906 Adventure Team, which scored them extra points. We rolled into Trailhead Bike Shop, where we met Kyle — the shop’s new owner carrying on a 37-year tradition. Great guy, good shop, worth a stop. Plenty of fat bikes on the floor! Ludington Bay Brewing Company provided the final toast with a pint of First Curve, a crisp West Coast IPA. Then it was back aboard the S.S. Badger for the 8:45pm sailing — this time with a beautiful sunset on the open lake.
