"Whatever a doctor decides is right for the patient." This is oftentimes the assumption when legislators, researchers, and THC advocates discuss the amount of THC a person with a medical marijuana card can purchase every day in each state. Too often, the amount allowed is not questioned at all. Worse, it is not even understood. This video seeks to explain it in a way many might realize. For instance, we compare the amount of THC the FDA is safe to consume in a day to the amount the medical market in the State of Colorado allows a patient to purchase. It is surprising. Dr. Libby Stuyt was one of the proponents in Colorado who sought to protect youth with the first bill to regulate high-potency THC products. The videos below show how much an 18-year-old with a medical marijuana card could purchase before the new law HB21-1317...and still can. With expert narration by Dr. Stuyt, these short videos will open your eyes. For more info, scroll on. "THIS MUCH THC IS NOT MEDICINAL" COLORADO'S THC PURCHASING LIMITS BEFORE AND AFTER HB21-1317 Narrated by Dr. Libby Stuyt https://iasic1.org/ Written and Produced by Heidi Anderson-Swan - https://anightinjail.com/ Produced and Designed by Aubree Adams https://everybrainmatters.org/ Advisor Jesse Le Blanc Medical Advisor Dr. Libby Stuyt Editor JG MORE... What if the amount of THC is far more than a patient with a legal, state-issued medical marijuana card could ever consume in a day? What if the patient picking up this large amount of product is only 18 years of age? And what if this same person could go from store to store to store to buy the tremendous amount of products he/she is allowed to purchase daily? There's an array of products, and it can be very confusing. Do they include THC- infused candies (and other edibles), concentrates, and dried flower? What happens, then? Why do we focus on an 18-year-old? Because the human brain does not finish developing until the age of 25 or later. Marijuana has a unique ability to disrupt brain development, and these changes may cause permanent impairment. The younger the age of onset of use, the more frequently THC is used, and the higher the concentration of THC products, the higher the risk goes up for addiction and a suite of mental illnesses. Colorado saw so much harm to their young adults a group of proponents passed a bill to begin to put regulations on the high THC concentrates. The elected officials in Colorado passed it with overwhelming bipartisan support, and the governor signed it into law. Why did Colorado need this law? There were several reasons. For these videos, we focus on how 18-year-olds had historically unprecedented access to very large amounts of THC products every single day. All of it is legally sanctioned.
