As a credit card enthusiast, I decided to jump on this delta credit card to keep it as a souvenir/collector's item as well as to hit the elevated sign-up bonus offer. There were a few reasons why I was hesitant about getting the delta reserve credit card. Although I do fly regularly, I haven't flown on Delta recently as most of my air travel is on Southwest. I also have the AMEX Platinum Card which offers a better multiplier as well as many similar benefits to the Delta Reserve Card and then some. Finally, there was the question of whether I needed another credit card as I'm already pretty happy with my current setup using the AMEX Trifecta and the Bank of America Duo. After I changed my mindset about this being a credit card, and instead it being a souvenir, the card makes a lot more sense to me. It wasn't just spending $550 to get this card though. I also could take advantage of the elevated sign-up bonus of 100k miles after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. Now, I’m not really much of a collector, but I am sort of an aviation enthusiast, and I would definitely consider myself to be a credit card hobbyist so this card is a nice intersection of these two things. In order to hit this sign-up bonus, I'll have to spend on this card only using Apple Pay or on online purchases as this card will stay in mint condition after I receive it in the mail. I do not plan on using the physical card for any reason.
