Last night we celebrated five years of Classical Horsemanship, established January 3, 2020, upon the purchase of our property we call, Falcon’s Landing. Over the last five years we have spent thousands of hours building the property up to support more horses, have safe fencing, built countless loafing sheds, built an indoor riding space, created pastures for our horses, and trails. I am really proud of how much work we have done on the property, but what makes me even more proud is the special place that we have built for horses and people. The support of our students, and the community we have built has already exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have gotten here without the support of so many. Aspen and Bryan, you both put so much into the barn and take pride in your students and the work that you do. It makes me so proud to see you both teach so well and your skills growing every week. My parents, Dave and Veronica Rau, we never would have been able to start this community without your initial investment in Classical Horsemanship. This place would not exist without you! A special thank you to Jo Sorentino who supports us with his handyman skills. Classical Horsemanship would not run smoothly without you. It is a beautiful thing that we have built, and I couldn’t have done it without, not just your handyman skills, but your continues belief in my dream and emotional support. It is with a heavy heart that my mentor, Craig Stevens, couldn’t be there with us last night. I can’t believe he has been gone almost a year. Not a day goes by that I don’t hear Craig in my head, yet miss his physical presence. We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Classical Horsemanship. As we grow, we are focusing on training instructors so that we can help more people and horses communicate better. We are also working on adding more safely fenced pastures for our horses. We are looking forward to continuing to honor and remember Craig through the non-profit we set up, The Craig Stevens Equestrian Foundation, to protect the library and content he left to us. Here is a video that Averee Dye made to celebrate the last five years of Classical Horsemanship.
