Hope you're all having a wonderful Coronation season, here's a song about the foibles of the Empire and the evil that Britain has wrought on the world. _ A QUICK NOTE ABOUT THE LYRICS: The original recording of this song features a racial slur in the second verse. I'm fully aware of the context behind the original wording, and what it meant as a slur against the people of Ireland at the time of writing. It isn't right to sing now, and definitely wasn't right to sing back in the 1970's, so I've re-written that line. It's still about the violence that the Irish people were subject to for centuries at the hands of the British Empire, but no longer features a word that someone with my complexion should not be singing. Even Elvis himself no longer sings these lyrics, which you can see in his recent live performances.
