Join me for an exploration through Lambertville, New Jersey, along the historic Belvidere–Delaware Railroad Line and the Delaware & Raritan Canal. This area is packed with relics, stories, and forgotten structures, and today I’m tracking down a few of them. We start at an old canal spillway designed to reroute overflow water through a concrete tunnel into a nearby stream. From there, the abandoned rail line begins to split — one direction leading toward a graffiti train and aqueduct, and the other toward the old railroad bridge. Along the way, I come across a somewhat abandoned baggage car with its own mysterious past. I’ve read bits and pieces about its history, but if you know more about it, I’d love to hear your stories. Continuing down the line, we reach the Flemington Railroad Bridge, complete with a path underneath covered in padlocks left by visitors. Heading straight from the graffiti train brings us to the Alexauken Creek Aqueduct — another incredible piece of engineering tucked away in the woods. BONUS: Thrill-seeking girls jumping into the waters below. It was a perfect day for exploring, and I hope you enjoy tagging along on this adventure through New Jersey’s rail and canal history.
