Also known as the Richfield Service Station, this is one of the most important places on California Route 66. At one time this was one of many service stations in the United States - but today, it is the only surviving station of its kind on Route 66 in California. It was in operation from the 1910s (before Route 66) to 1971. The building stood abandoned, but by 2009 the city of Rancho Cucamonga declared the property a City Landmark. Restoration of the building would later take part and by 2015, the station was re-opened as a museum and nostalgic place for Route 66 travelers from around the world to enjoy. Hours of operation are not clear, but here's what I found: Thurs-Sat: 10-3, Sunday 12-3 It is usually staffed by volunteers. Be sure to buy a souvenir or two from the gift shop!
