Ian Huntley, who was convicted of murdering 10-year-old girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in the 2002 Soham murders, has died aged 52 after being attacked in prison. The assault took place on February 26 in the workshop at HMP Frankland in Durham, where Huntley suffered severe brain injuries and was placed on life support at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. After tests showed he was in a vegetative state, life support was withdrawn and he died on March 7.
