Alum Cave Trail FULL HIKE | Best Day Hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The Alum Cave Trail is known to be the most hiked trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From our research, the Alum Cave Trail is the best day hike in the Smokies in Tennessee. In this video we hike along the Alum Cave Trail, through Arch Rock and Inspiration Point to Alum Cave. We end up hiking past Alum Cave toward Mount LeConte for about a 1/2 mile. During our visit we didn't have enough time to hike to the peak of Mount LeConte, but that is ok because we visited on a beautiful day and the views along Alum Cave Trail were incredible. This video includes footage of the full hike to Alum Cave, so if you are interested in this hike and curious about the terrain the video does provide a good overview of the trail. Points of Interest: Arch Rock is a 1.4 mile hike 1 way . It is around a 45 minute moderate hike to 4,389 ft in elevation. Inspiration Point is located between Arch Rock and Alum Cave at around 4,700 ft in elevation. This is a great place to capture panoramic views. Alum Cave is a 2.3 mile hike 1 way. It is around a 1.5 hr strenuous hike to 4,970 ft in elevation. From Alum Cave, the hike to Mount LeConte is still a 2.7 mile strenuous hike one way. The hike to Mount LeConte can take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours depending on one's pace. We now understand why the Alum Cave Trail is the most popular in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and wish we would of had enough time to hike to Mount LeConte.
