Use good anticipation and an active stick to disrupt plays and get in the way, but his reach and body engagement can sometimes be limiting when defending against bigger opponents who can dangle around him. Has shown more willingness for engaging in net-front positioning battles recently. 2023-12-02 WHL: In 3v3 OT, gets caught flat-footed and completely victimized by Conor Geekie for the game winning goal against. 2024-02-28 WHL: Fails to take away the pass on a 2-on-1 against, resulting in a Matthew Savoie goal. 2024-11-02 AHL: Makes a quick decision to switch from the left to the right side in the N-zone to track the opponent entering the zone. Matches the speed and then throws a rare hit in the corner to separate the opponent from the puck, which helps the team go the other way. 2024-12-04 AHL: Some good physical engagement against the bigger 6’2’’ Nesterenko (San Diego #13) to get in the way by the net and along the boards, but couldn’t break the puck out. Then re-engages with Nesterenko in front of the net and gets into a push-and-shove fest.
