The title track from APOLLO5’s seventh studio album, ‘Anam’ is the Gaelic word for the ‘soul’. In this new arrangement of a piece by Fraser Wilson, a solo tenor voice sings the words of an ancient Gaelic blessing; the other voices provide a warm and expansive chordal texture beneath. This otherworldly effect evokes the cosmic and elemental forces described in the text, translated by the nineteenth-century Scottish author and folklorist Alexander Carmichael. Anam is out now on VOCES8 Records. ––––– APOLLO5 consists of: Penelope Appleyard, soprano Clare Stewart, mezzo-soprano Oscar Golden-Lee, tenor Joseph Taylor, tenor Augustus Perkins Ray, bass Cameras, lighting and editing by Andy Staples Styling and set by Jan Keliris ––––– Renowned for their commanding vocals and unique sound, the critically acclaimed British vocal ensemble APOLLO5 demonstrates how impressive five voices alone can be. Showcasing unparalleled individual talent while creating an immaculate blend, APOLLO5 captivates audiences across genres including jazz, pop, classical, and early sacred music, establishing a deep connection through their performances and education workshops.
