Veere (2025) is a historic town in the south of the Netherlands in the region of Sealand (Zeeland). Originally the city was founded as 'Ter Veere' in the 13th century on the island of Walcheren but was later connected with the mainland. The city introduced an attractive tax regime in the Middle Ages and many Italian bankers settled in the Dutch Republic and in Veere.
